Our Story
A small Ankara roastery inspired by a love story, a cat and a riot of colour.
1884
Emily
Young London artist Louis Wain fell in love with Emily Richardson, his sisters' governess. Despite the disapproval around them they married, and began a life in a small house with a great deal of love.
1885
Peter
In their first year together Emily fell gravely ill. To make her smile through long days in bed, Louis began drawing their black-and-white kitten, Peter. From those sketches came his cats that wore spectacles, read books and behaved just like people.
1887
Colour
After losing Emily, Louis never stopped drawing cats. As he wrestled with his own mental health in later life, his paintings grew brighter, more patterned, almost kaleidoscopic — portraits of love, fragility and imagination.

Louis Wain Coffee Co. takes its name from that story. To us, coffee is like his cats: a way of telling someone you love them, of making a moment a little more beautiful. We want every bean to show its character as vividly as Louis's colours.
We source from trusted, sustainable farms and roast in small batches with a profile developed for each origin. Respect for nature and for craft runs through everything we do — so that every sip carries warmth, quality and passion.
Today we supply cafés, offices and everyone who takes coffee seriously at home with freshly roasted beans, traditional coffee and brewing equipment.
